Das Exponat, ein angeketteter Baumstumpf, mit
Vorhängeschloss gesichert, repräsentiert eine Installation von 2009, die im
Rahmen eines Art in Situ Projekts im Harcourt Arboretum
Oxford entstanden ist. Botanische Gärten als Inseln und Schutzräume sind keine
wilde, sondern gezähmte Natur. Die Kette als Symbol für Zwang und Zähmung
verweist auf Kultivierung als Reaktion auf die Zerstörung der Natur.
Annegret Heinl's "Trees should be kept on the lead!" is an installation in Harcourt Arboretum Oxford in which 7 selected trees are leashed like dogs. The installation has been a part of the project "Art in the Arboretum", an international artists' residency, realized by Art in Situ, France 2009.
Botanic gardens are islands and reservations, they are not wild, rather tamed nature. The chain refers to bondage and domestication in answer to the destruction of nature.Ausstellung
